Prayer for the Children Challenge

We have started our faithbooks to leave a legacy of faith for future generations. What better way to show your children and their children than to write out a prayer for them.

We depend on God to enable us to raise our children properly, and He will see to it that our children's lives are blessed. Ask the Lord to show you how to pray for your child so that you are not forcing your will onto your child but His will. Pray that He will help you raise them His way, and that His will is done in their lives.

This weeks challenge is to create a page with a prayer for your children.

Lamentations 2:19
Pour out your heart like water before the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your children.

Peace Challenge Winner

We have had so many new wonderful ladies join our site in the past few weeks since we did our call for two new creative teams! One of our new members and now one of our new Digital Creative team members, Nina (AKA PsalmBooker) is our featured layout for this weeks challenge!

What a wonderful and awesome interpretation of "Peace" with her layout here.

Journaling reads:

Peace

The peace that surpasses all understanding. That peaces that's on the inside, no matter the circumstances on the outside. the assurance that God is in control and I can remain just as calm as these swans. Not aloof- Just assured that He will work all things for the good... He's the good... He's Jehovah Jirah.

Scripture Challenge {Week 17} & RAK Winner

Before I begin our study for this week, I wanted to share with you what Rita, one of our Scripture Challenge participants, did last week with the word presence. She wrote an amazing poem about God’s presence and created an amazing album. Here is her poem:

I heard God today when I awoke to songbirds outside my window –
greeting the morn in happy song.
I felt God today in the warmth of hands held in family prayer,
and a hug from my very best friend.
I tasted God today while relishing fruit so sweet,
and wondering at the goodness He provides.
I smelled God today in the rich perfume of glorious flowers,
wafting through the air so I would stop and take notice.
I saw God today in the majesty of His creation,
in the joy seen on the faces of my family,
but most of all, in the mirror as I glimpse His image in me
.

And you can see her entire album with poem here. I hope you enjoyed that, and thank you Rita for sharing this with us!

Now onto Week 17! When you have a problem, what do you do? Do you talk with friends about it? Do you hide and keep it inside? When you do something great, do you brag about it getting praise from those around you? What about your actions in public? Do you look like “the world” around you or do you look different? Have you ever thought about what God wants you to do in those good and bad times and how He wants you to look to the world around you? Well, He wants us to glorify Him in everything! Isaiah 43:7 tells us that He created us for His glory—“everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Such a great verse, and as I am sure you are guessing by now that our word for this week is:

Week 17 Challenge Word: Glory

Glory is to call attention to the magnificence of another, not ourselves but to another. Our chief purpose is to glorify God. He is number one; we are not. My happiness is not important; however, our amazing God can bring glory to Himself and joy to me all at the same time even during difficult times! What an amazing and loving God we have!

How can we glorify Him? We can use scriptures that glorify Him, we can sing hymns, or we can even use our own words. Our actions should also show in everything we do that we trust Him and live for Him everyday. He is to get all of the applause not us. We had a great example of living for Him everyday last night at dinner. We went out to a restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had the best server. He was just wonderful, and the girls were being absolutely amazing. Well, I always want to share Christ with others but I am not always forward with people such as servers, cashiers, etc.; however, I felt God wanted us to share Christ with this server. So, as I paid for the bill and left a tip, I wrote on the bill “May the Lord bless you for your amazing service,” and I signed the family’s name. I pray that God used our actions to glorify Himself to that server. I pray that the server saw Christ in us. I have never done that before but I am so glad God led me to it. How might He be using you to glorify Him?

And something that really touched me was at our BSF leader’s retreat last month. At the end of our weekend, Mrs. Jean Nystrand, Executive Director of BSF, gave her last amazing teaching on the book of Isaiah. As she ended, all 3,000 leaders gave her a standing ovation and began applauding. She immediately asked us to sit and humbled herself saying it was not her but it was all God!!! How many of us would not take the applause and humble ourselves and give Him the glory as she did in front of 3,000 people? Wow!

The verses I chose this week were:
1 Corinthians 11:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."

And for my card, I used some yummy Basic Grey papers, some Creative Cafe goodness, and a Cuttlebug die and embossing folder. Fun, fun!
And finally for our RAK winner! We had 13 of you post links to your completed cards/pages! Thank you all for sharing your amazing pages with us! And our winner of the devotional is Nilsa from Scrapjazz! Yeah Nilsa! Please e-mail me your address so I can put your book in the mail to you! Congrats! And now, as you go out this week, think about glorifying God in your problems and in your successes! Have a joyous week!

Peace Challenge

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts...and be thankful. Colossians 3:15 NKJ

A moments peace can be a scarce commodity. But no matter how numerous the interruptions and demands of the day, God is ever-present, always ready and willing to offer solace to those who seek "the peace that passes all understanding."

When we accept the peace of Jesus Christ into our hearts, our lives are transformed. Because we possess the gift of peace, we can share that gift with fellow Christians, family members, friends and associates. If on the other hand, we choose to ignore the gift of peace- for whatever reason- we simply can't share what we do not possess.

:flower: As a gift to yourself, to your family and to your friends, claim the inner peace that is your spiritual birthright: the peace of Jesus Christ. It is offered freely; it has been paid for in full; it is yours for the asking. So ask. Then share.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Our featured layout above for this challenge is by our Creative Team Member, Alisa. Here is what she says:

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you.

Peace in my life is not found in quietness or solitude....with 7 children running around it is hard to find any space that is not reverberating with the loudness of our life. And it is in that loudness that I find my true peace. Your word tells me that the peace that You give me will be a lot different then the peace the world gives me. This is so true as I find such peace and joy in the loudness of the many blessings you have given me. I find my true peace from being in Your word, teaching it to my children and enjoying all the wonderful blessings You have given me....

Focus on Mothers Challenge Winner

This week the focus was on Mothers. Most had heart warming thoughts towards their mothers and we had some wonderful layouts for this challenge in the gallery. But one layout really caught our attention and that is because it was based on some trials that our Faith Sister, Kay has had with her Mother over the years. It is our prayer that those of you who can relate will find some healing to know you are not alone and that there is no sorrow in heaven.

Here is what Kay says...

I never liked it as a kid---but my mother and I look a lot alike. We are so opposite in personalities. My weaknesses are her strengths and her weaknesses are my strengths. I hope to someday get along despite our differences.

I always have a hard time doing anything related to Mothers. I realize that the phrase "abusive home" gets used a lot, but I grew up in one at the hands of my mother. We have always had our differences. We verbally fought to the "death" and I was hit with a board on sometimes a daily basis.

I left home when I was 18 never to return. God has chosen in the last 10-15 years to start working on this relationship. I do not think it will ever be good here on Earth, but in Heaven there will be no sorrow---I am looking forward to hugging my mother in Heaven and not having all the pain associated with it. God is a gracious God. My mother and I have done a lot of talking---not quite sure how much listening---and have come to an unspoken conclusion--we have my son in common and we have to start there. I tell her what I go through as a parent and we somehow find common ground on that. My heart breaks when I see other daughters getting along with there mothers. I so long for that. I am holding God to His promise of Heaven.

Scripture Challenge {Week 16} & a RAK!

I don't know about you, but I love studying God's attributes. I have a book written by Rosemary Jensen, the former Director of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), called "Praying the Attributes of God." I really think this will be a summer study for me after BSF ends in May. So, I thought I would start throwing in some of His attributes for us to look at through our Scripture Challenge. This week, I thought we would look at:

Week 13 Challenge Word: His Presence

God's presence can be found when we seek Him with our whole heart. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, and we are now adopted into our Father's family. Our Father is there with us when we are sick, when we suffer, when we doubt, when we experience joy, etc. He is with us no matter the circumstances. And in His presence, we find the safety and peace we long for. He is always there (ever present), and He cares. He knows your heart, He hears your conversations, He notices what you do over and over and over again. He is not just present at Easter or Christmas or times of sorrow. He is with us each and every day. Do you notice Him? Do you feel His presence? Ask Him to remind you of His presence.

I found another great quote from Max Lucado for this week. He says "His presence never diminishes. Our awareness of His presence may falter but the reality of His presence never changes. We cannot find a place where God is not." I just love that! How perfectly put! That quote is going in my journal!

The scripture I chose for this week is:

Psalm 89:15: "Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord."

And I used the fun April kit from Create My Keepsake again to create my card.
Please join our discussions here at Faith Sisters. And for those of you that post a link to your completed card or page in the comment section of my blog, you will be entered in a random drawing to win this wonderful devotional:
Your card must be posted on my blog by Saturday, April 26th. I will draw the winner on Sunday! I hope that you will look for His presence this week. Or even look back on today to see where He has been with you today! Have a wonderful week!

Faith Discovery Challenge #10 – {Stay Focused}

Wow, 2 weeks flew by really fast! Now it’s time for another challenge but, before I do that, let me first start by picking the featured layout for our previous challenge, “Time Is Precious”. Even though there were only a few, it was still a challenge for me to pick just one. But, I couldn’t help but pick this layout by one of our talented Creative Team members, Tammy McClain. The photo is really dramatic and most of all I strongly understood her words of wisdom and her message really spoke the truth about how precious time is. So, be sure to give her some love and check out her layout and more of her awesome designs in the gallery! Thanks Tammy for your inspiring work!

{Stay Focused}

Focus. I tend to think of a camera when it comes to that term. If you’re like me, trying to hold a camera still, zooming in and out to bring the object into clear view, getting the right lighting, etc. can be such a chore just to take a picture. But, we still take it anyways and find that more or less, the picture comes out perfectly fine. We love capturing moments on photos because one day we know we will want to look back at this time in our life and remember the special people, places, and events that took place. And when we’re gone, those photos will hopefully be kept in someone’s loving care to share with the next generation and the next. Focus. What important things do we focus on? For me, I’m a SAHM which means my focus right now is to take care of my sweet little boys and hubby, to be the best mother and wife that I possibly can be. Like a camera, it takes discipline and practice but, basically I know what my priorities are and believe that the love I put into this family will eventually reap an abundance of blessings through my children. There are days that I feel overwhelmed, weary, frustrated, and tired but, I know that God is my helper and His grace is sufficient for me. The Lord helps me to focus on the things that glorify Him rather than glorifying things that are worldly and temporary and I praise the Lord for that.

Staying focused. Why can it be so hard sometimes to keep our focus on the Lord and His promises? So many times, I find myself sidetracked by all the chaos that occurs in life. Not to mention, I often forget that He is control. He knows my days from the moment I wake up to the moment I lay down to sleep. He will do what He promised to do in His time, not mine. But, when disappointments and setbacks come my way or prayers are left unanswered, people I love get hurt and mistreated, stories of innocent people dying, violence, and war on the news, couples getting divorced, children abandoned and abused…so on and so on. These things fill my mind and my heart with so much grief, I can hardly bear it sometimes. Doubt and fear is the enemy’s tactic to cause us to lose sight of this race, to lose trust, to lose hope in God. There’s a battlefield in our mind that constantly tests our faith. Yet, when we read His word, pray, and spend time with Him, He gives us the right perspective and shows us how to stay or get back on track. We are all running a race and sometimes the trials in life can make you stumble but, just keep going and don’t let the enemy stop you from reaching your goal to serve the Lord. Finish your race and in the end, God will say to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matt 25:21) So, stay focused!

Challenge #10 - We all have a potential to lose focus on the visions and plans that God has revealed to us. Setbacks, disappointments, confusion, stress, disbelief, sickness, strife, etc are some of the things that create obstacles in our paths. Yet God wants us to keep running this race, He wants us to reach our destinations that lead to His Kingdom, He believes we can keep going if we keep our eyes on Jesus. But, we have to have faith if we want to finish this race despite all the hurdles that causes us to stumble and fall. Share your story about this race you're running and what is it that keeps you from giving up? What are some things that have thrown you off track? What are things that you can share with others that will help them finish their race?

Faith Verses:

1 Cor 9:24 - "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."

Phil 3:12-14
- "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But, one thing I do; Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Hebrews 12:1-3
- "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

John 16:33 - "...In this world, you will have trouble. But, take heart, I have overcome the world!"
