Hello, Sisters!
This is Barbara, of Precepts and Promises, here with a little friendly reminder of my monthly speed scrap at Faith Sisters. It's always on the first Tuesday of the month, or at least I try to always make it the first Tuesday!  We have participants from all around the globe, so the time does change (and I'm always open to suggestions). This coming Tuesday, October 4th, at 4PM Pacific time, is our next scheduled speed scrap, and I hope you'll consider joining us.

It's only an hour, and believe you me, it goes by quickly! I give you a total of seven steps, each 10 minutes apart, and at the end of the hour, you will have a layout completed. Occasionally, there might be a step or technique that not everyone is familiar with, so the hour can also turn into a mini-lesson as I help you through.

And, of course, there is always a little posting bonus from me for everyone who gets a layout completed and posted in our gallery.  This month I've made you a Fall Foto Mask.  It's messy and layered, and I think you'll like it!

If you've never participated in a speed scrap before, go and peruse the gallery to see pages made in previous scraps. You'll see that it's nothing too complicated, but it's always a good idea to have in mind beforehand a few photos that need to be scrapped. Then come and join us in the forum. I'd love to have you there!

Speed Scraps at Faith Sisters

Hello, friends! This is Barbara, of Precepts & Promises, here to tell you a little about the speed scraps we have at Faith Sisters.
I host them once a month, on the first Tuesday of every month.  So, our next one is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, July 5th, as 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern.
I have a goodie for you each time, too.  Sometimes I have you download it before we scrap so you can use it on the layout we make.  Sometimes, the goodie is a participation prize given to everyone who scraps with us.
And, that is what I'm doing this Tuesday; everyone who makes a layout and posts it to our gallery within 24 hours of our speed scrap ending will be sent the download link for Summer Photo Overlays.

Now, some of you might not be familiar with a speed scrap.  No worries!  It's pretty simple.  We have a thread in the forum at Faith Sisters with all the details, and that's where you'll find me at the appointed time.  Every 10 minutes, for one hour, I give you a new direction for your layout.  No one knows what the completed layout will be, except for me, of course!  But, because we're not copying a layout, only the steps to make it, everyone's is different.  It's wonderful!
We are a very friendly and welcoming group, and I hope this post has inspired you to come and scrap with us!

Speed Scrap: April 5th

Hi, Sisters!
This is Barbara, here to remind you of the next Faith Sisters' Speed Scrap.  It's scheduled for April 5, but I would love your input about the time.  We have sisters all around the world, so it's difficult to decide on a time.  So, please leave a comment on this post with your time zone and the best hour for our scrap.  I'll try to accommodate the greatest number of participants. (As long as it's not in the middle of the night here in the Pacific Standard Time zone!)
Check back in our forum or on our Facebook page for an update on the time.
To encourage you to come and join us, I've made up a template for anyone who scraps along with us.  I was inspired by a layout on The Digi Lovely blog, by Paula Gilarde. I have included .psd, .tiff, and .jpg formats. It will be available after our scrap.
And, to get you inspired, here are a few layouts from our last Speed Scrap:
I hope to see you on the 5th!

Speed Scrap this coming Tuesday!

This is Barbara, of Precepts and Promises, and I've love to have you join us at Faith Sisters this coming Tuesday, March 1st, 2PM PST, for a speed scrap.

What is a speed scrap you say?
You've never participated in a speed scrap?
Why would you WANT to???

Like the name implies, a Speed Scrap is a scheduled event for scrapping in a hurry.  For mine at Faith Sisters, they are one hour long.  I give you a different set of instructions every 10 minutes, beginning and ending on the hour.  Each set builds on the previous, so by the end of the hour, your page is complete (or very nearly so).

If you've never participated in a speed scrap, and it sounds intimidating, then this is the speed scrap for you!  We are a very welcoming group and would love to have you join in.  You are always free to ask questions if you are stumped or if my directions are a little fuzzy.

And, why should you?
Because it's fun; you don't know what the page is supposed to look like, so it's a little like opening a present with multiple layers of wrapping paper.
Because you get a page DONE; who among us is all caught up with our photos?
And, because I give out some sort of participation prize for all who join in!  In the past, participation prizes have included word art clusters and photo overlays.

Here are a few examples of pages I've used as the basis for a speed scrap:

If you are intrigued, go and check out the other layouts in our gallery.  It's always so interesting to see that, with the same instructions, everyone's pages are so unique.

And, then, please come and join us this coming Tuesday, March 1st, at 2PM PST (5PM EST) in our forum.  We'd love to have you join us!
