My Prayers For You {Challenge 16} - No Room for the Devil

Holding a grudge opens the door for the devil to enter your life and cause you to sin. Doing things that are unholy or watching things that are unholy can also open the door to the devil. Shut out the devil by quickly resolving your differences with others, and especially with your children. Confess your wrongs. Extend forgiveness, turn away from unholy things such as music, tv shows, etc. before the devil gets a foothold.

Scripture: And do not make room for the devil. ~Ephesians 4:27

Prayer: Mighty Lord, keep my children safe from giving the devil any opportunity to take up residency. Help them to always keep their guard up and only do holy things. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 15} - Abundance

Giving to God won't deplete you. The more you give the more God provides so that you may share generously with others. In these days of economic hardships it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking only of your families needs. It is such a good example to let our children see us giving and helping others, even when times are tough.

Scripture: And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. ~2 Corinthians 9:8

Prayer: Heavenly father, assure my children that you provide for all their needs and more so they may joyfully share with others. Help them to not grow greedy but to always follow your will. Amen

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 14} - House of the Lord

Do you get excited to go to church? Do your children think of going to church as a chore, or exciting like taking a trip to grandmas house? This week, talk to your children about how glad you are to meet with fellow believers and to spend time worshiping, praising, and thanking God. Stir up excitement to worship our Mighty God!

Scripture: I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord!" ~Psalm 122:1

Prayer: Lord, create in my children an eager anticipation to go to church and to worship you. Give them this desire to be in church for as long as they live. Help them to invite others to worship with them.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 13} Purify Our Home

This challenge comes from The Power Of A Praying Parent Bible Study.

Chapter eighteen in The Power Of Praying Parent book by Stormie Omartian is about praying through your child's room. The Bible says that if we bring anything detestable into our homes, we bring destruction along with it. A holy housecleaning should be done periodically as a matter of principal, but definitely whenever you feel troubled by something in your child. If your child is becoming fearful, rebellious, angry, depressed, distant, strange, a disciplinary problem or having bad dreams and nightmares, sometimes praying through the room can change things quickly. Singing Christian songs, hymns, and worship choruses in the room is also very effective and I have seen a change of spirit in my children after doing this.

Stormie Omartian's book recommends removing anything that is not glorifying God from your child's room when you pray through it. Such as posters, books, magazines, pictures, games, or articles of clothing depicting drug or alcohol use or any blasphemy. This isn't a superstitious little ritual. This is a powerful claiming of your home, your child, and all aspects of his life for God. It's standing up and proclaiming, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." It's saying, "My home is sanctified and set apart for God's glory."

Scripture: All these promises are made to us, my dear friends. So then, let us purify ourselves from everything that makes body or soul unclean, and let us be completely holy by living in reverence for God. -2 Corinthians 7:1

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please dwell in our home and each room in it. Let no spirits of fear, depression, anger, doubt, anxiety, rebelliousness or hatred find any place in this home. Put your complete protection over this home so that evil can not enter by any means. Fill this home with Your love, peace, and joy. I pray that you will make this home a holy place, sanctified in your glory. In Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 11} Treasures in Heaven

I have been cleaning out the kids rooms and lots of other clutter. Wow, how does one family accumulate so much STUFF! We have quite a huge yard sale pile going in the garage. A reminder that today's treasures are tomorrow's clutter. We must keep our hearts heaven bound. I have been looking for ways to help those in need and teaching my children that it is good to sacrifice some of our wants to be able to help those in need.

Scripture: Do not store up yourselves treasures on earth...but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~Matthew 6:19-21

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as the materialism of this world contends for my children's attention, grant them strength to focus on storing up treasures in heaven. Help them to be content with what they have and to be willing to share our blesssings with others. In Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 10} Biblical Truths

Godless people will distort Scripture and twist it's truths. I strive to give my children a solid understanding of biblical truths so that they will not be deceived. My children have learned so much in Sunday school and AWANA each week and I pray that the Lord will keep everything that they have learned each week in their hearts and minds.

Scripture: Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. ~2 Peter 3:17

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please protect my children from deception and being carried away by the error of lawless people. Please keep them secure in their faith. Provide them with Godly friends. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Week 9} Cheerful Work

Sometimes we have to do things that aren't enjoyable. Even if it isn't fun work, we have to remind ourselves and our children that we are really working for the Lord. We should always be cheerful because God is our real boss, and he has our futures in His hands!

Scripture: Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters. ~Colossians 3:23

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help my children to work hard and cheerful no matter what they are doing. Always remind them that even though they are working for others, ultimately they are always working for you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Challenge 8} Your Will Lord

It is my goal to teach and model for my children a desire to please God before pleasing friends. We are accountable to God. Children are so often tempted to compromise their Christian values in an effort to fit in.

Scripture: We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. ~1 Thessalonians 2:4

Prayer:
Heavenly father, shield my children from trying to please others more than you. Always bring Your Will to their minds and remind them what is right. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle

My Prayers For You {Week Seven} - Watchful

There is so much inappropriate language and actions shown on TV shows, movies and songs that it makes me cringe to think of all that my children are exposed to on an everyday basis.

My husband and I had almost become numb to all of the foul language and impure behavior until our children were old enough to start watching TV and movies with us. It was then that we realized we really needed to be watchful about what we were allowing even our adult selves to see and hear. We stopped watching R rated movies and got rid of most of our heavy metal music.

I think our children's pastor said it best when she told the kids "Garbage in, Garbage out." Some people think that I go overboard because I like to surround myself and my children with Christian music and wholesome TV and movies. I however, think that it is extremely important to be a role model and teach my children that it isn't ok to just accept that the world is impure and indulge in all of it. I want to be an example to show them that as God's child, I choose to stay true to what is right, to be watchful of spiritual danger, and to stand firm in my faith.

Scripture: Keep a close watch on all you do and think. Stay true to what is right and God will bless you and use you to help others. ~1 Timothy 4:16

Prayer: Savior, keep my children watchful for spiritual danger, courageous to do what is right, and useful to you to help others. Amen.

Michelle

My Prayers For You {Week Six} - Kind Words

So what's the big deal about a little gossip?

Proverbs 18:8 says, "What dainty morsels rumors are--but they sink deep into one's heart." Each spoken word in love or anger strikes deep within your child's heart and soul. Our word's should always be a reflection of God's love and give grace to those who hear them.

It is so easy to get pulled into gossip. Gossip is an area I tend to struggle with. I pray this prayer for my children and for myself and my friends. With the Lord's help we can build others up instead of tearing them down.

Scripture: "Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear." ~Ephesians 4:29

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let no evil thoughts come out of my children's mouths. Help them to always speak positive words that will build people up. In Jesus name. Amen.

Blessings,
Michelle
