My Sweet, Sweet Song- The Perfect Gift

Merry Christmas Sisters! I hope that during the hustle and bustle of the season, you will find time to rest, relax and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6-7

Do you have a favorite Christmas song? One that reminds you that this season isn't about shopping and decorations but about blessings and sacrifices. Its about a perfect gift, given by the only one could pay the price. A priceless gift wrapped in a blanket and placed in a manger.

For December, the designers and I would love to have you join us and share your favorite Christmas song with us. It can be any song you choose. Even if its not really a Christmas song but it holds special meaning for you, we would love to have you share it. Below are my layouts featuring two of my favorite Christmas songs.

My Sweet, Sweet Song- Beyond Blessed

As we approach the holiday season, we are reminded of all that we have to be thankful for. God pours out his blessings on those who love him. Not only have we received eternal life through Christ, but everyday we experience his love and blessings.

That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. -Galatians 3:14

When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing. -Hebrews 6:7

Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. -Psalm 21:6

Is there a song that reminds you of all the blessings in your life? Maybe a song of thanksgiving for all that God has done? I hope you will join us this month in creating a layout inspired by your favorite songs. Below are a few songs I thought fit this topic, but feel free to share any song that you feel drawn too.

For These Reasons- Lincoln Brewster
Blessed- Rachael Lampa
More Than You'll Ever Know- Watermark

For my layout I chose a song from Martina McBride called Blessed. I really feel that God's greatest blessing in my life is my husband and children and this song puts those feelings into words. Sometimes the everyday stuff seems like just everyday stuff but when I stop and take it all in, I realize that I truly am blessed.

My Sweet, Sweet Song- Lay It Down

What burdens are you carrying through life? Maybe your load consists of a large single burden that you are so crushed under you don‘t know if you can even take a step. Maybe it is made of many small burdens that you really haven’t come to realize you are carrying until the weight of them added together starts to cause you to become weary and fatigued. There is great news for those of us who are weary and burdened! The weight can be lifted off our shoulders if we give it over to God. At the foot of the cross, we can lay it down.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." -Matthew 11:28-30

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death. -Psalm 68 19-20

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, -Philippians 3 12-13

Is there a song that reminds you to lay it down? Whatever it is that you are carrying its not to heavy, to big, for God. I hope you will join us this month in creating a layout inspired by your favorite songs. Below are a few songs I thought fit this topic, but feel free to share any song that you feel drawn too.

Give It All Away- Aaron Shust
Let Go- Grey Holiday
Let It Roll- Superchick

For my layout this month, I choose a song from one of my favorite bands, Need to Breathe, called Lay 'em Down. As I worked on my layout, something that struck me is that laying down our burdens is not a one time act. Though out life we pick up new burdens and sometimes we pick back up our old burdens. I'm very guilty of picking back up what I said I had laid down, but its something I'm working on.

My Sweet, Sweet Song- Teach Me Your Ways

Jesus is often referred to as “Teacher” in scripture. He calls himself “Teacher“. His followers and even his enemies called him the same. As the school year begins in the much of the U.S., we are reminded to learn and follow the master teacher. He is the one who can show us how to lead, serve and love. As we face problems and difficult decisions in our lives, we should look to the teaching of God to help us.

He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.' " - Matthew 26:18

He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him." -John 3:2

They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. -Matthew 22:16

Is there a song that helps you to see God as our teacher or is there a song that brought to light a calling God had for you? No matter the topic (career, family, money, etc.) He is the ultimate authority. I hope you will join us this month in creating a layout inspired by your favorite songs. Below are a few songs I thought fit this topic, but feel free to share any song that you feel drawn too.

Lead Me- Sanctus Real
Begin With Me- Point Of Grace
In The Blink Of An Eye- MercyMe

My layout this month was inspired by a conversation I had with my husband. We were driving in the car when the song Lead Me by Sanctus Real came on. I had heard it several times but didn’t know if my husband had. After the song finished playing, he turned to me and said that the first time he heard that song was a few days ago and it nearly brought him to tears. Him telling me that, almost brought me to tears! I felt so happy that the man I share my life with wants God to lead him, to teach him.
