My Prayers For You Challenge Starting 2009

Beginning in January, Faith Sisters, will be hosting a bi-weekly Prayer Challenge. This challenge will be posted approximately every other week for 20 weeks. We are posting this now so that you can get your supplies and be ready to go in the New Year. The challenge will start January 14, 2009.

As mothers we are all extremely busy. Many times it is hard to pray more than a vague prayer for our children. This challenge has been on my heart for nearly a year as the Lord called me to a new season of prayer with Him. I am so excited to share this challenge with all of you!

Each challenge will help you to prepare your own prayer cards or album that will give you prayers to specifically and intentionally pray for the growth of your children's Godly character, protection, and His plan for their lives. It is never too early or too late to pray for your children, grandchildren, neighbors, children at church, your spouse or anyone that you love. I am targeting my cards for my own children but you can adapt your cards to be for anyone that you would like. It is our job as mothers to cover our children’s lives in prayer.

“Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children.” ~Lamentations 2:19

The power of God penetrates a child’s life when parents pray. I think it is very important to follow Jesus’ example of using the word in our prayers as He did when rebuking satan in Luke 4:7-8. However, I often struggle to remember the scriptures I want to include as I intercede for my children. That is why I started my prayer cards! Now the specific scriptures that I pray are easily found in a compact place. These cards have also helped me to hide these scriptures in my heart so that I am better equipped when praying for my children. When we pray the Word we are taking hold of the promises he gives us and speaking them into our children’s lives.

Each card will include a Bible verse that sets forth one Godly characteristic God desires our children to develop. The other side of the card will be a simple prayer. Every other week I will include my card with the scripture, and the prayer. You can use my prayer, or your own, on the cards that you make. I will show you my altered card and you can ask questions in the forum and share your cards in the gallery. I used Jumbo playing cards and a black, white and red theme. You can use cards, layouts, mini albums or anything that you choose. You can use your own stash and your own, unique style to create your cards. They will be 100% authentic to you.

These challenges will furnish you with simple prayers that you can pray when you are too busy to think. The card’s will also be a reminder to your children of the prayers you are praying for them. The cards will help you nurture your children's faith with prayer & God's Word, and teach your children God's truths. I hope to help you plant seeds of faith and character through prayer.

These challenges will help you to transform your prayers from vague and general requests to specific and distinct petitions in line with God's will for your children's lives. Let God speak to you through each Bible verse and learn from Him. Focus your prayers so you can see God's answers.

It is my prayer that these challenges will encourage you to pray the word in your child’s life while also creating a legacy of prayers to pass on to your children that they can then pray for their own children.

God Bless,
Michelle McVaney

I SO need this! I also have been meaning to do this. When we adopted our daughter a friend gave us a gorgeous walnut box she had found in a garage sale, no doubt, that was filled with rolodex cards. I always mean to use it as a prayer box. What I did do was write some journaling notes about ou first days together and the transition we all went through. But after a few entries I quit. I will bring this box down to my scrap area, maybe alter it a bit and plan to use it as a prayer journal for her. Of course I will have to think up something for DS too! Maybe I could get DH in on this... Thanks - look forward to this! Glad it is bi-weekly.

I'm excited to be able to do this challenge as well. Sounds like a great prayer resource. I want to try the cards so that they are compact.

i will be doing mine on cards postal size from creative imaginations. They are a 4x6 size, so I hope to get my bible verse on on one half and my prayer on the other half. The package holds 12 cards, which will make the 20 prayer cards if done the way I plan......
