Emma, please tell us a bit about you.
Hi, I am Emma, I am 56 years young and I have been married to my husband Frank for 36 years. We have two children, Benjamin 29 and Rachel 24. We have 4 grandsons, with a granddaughter due in early December.
I was very fortunate to have grown up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as my Savior at the early age of 10, at age 16 I gave my life to Christ in full time service to him. I didn’t know where that would lead at the time but he opened the door for me to marry a wonderful man who shares the same love of Jesus that I do. Together we have served in ministries across Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois. I am involved in a southern gospel group called, “Vision” where I am one of the vocalists.
Designing, scrapbooking and photography are what I enjoying doing in my free time.
What are some of the life lessons that scrapbooking has taught you?
I think the one important lesson that I have learned is to jot down important information about what is happening in photographs. I got into scrapbooking late so I had tons of photos in boxes with no information on them. Yu think you will remember what happened at the time but you get a few years from an event and you lose important details. Also remember to add that all important journaling to your layout so that future generations will know what was going on at the time too.
When did you start digital scrapbooking, designing and what made you get into it?
I first started as a paper scrapper about 6 years ago and switched over 4 years ago to digital. Although I still do a lot of hybrid scrapping. I made the switch due to the cost of paper scrapbook supplies which were beyond what I could afford because I wanted to do it all. So at first it was the cost but I soon found a new freedom with digital that you can’t do with paper scrapbooking. The creativeness is endless in the digital field which appealed to my artistic nature.
What inspires you to create your designs?
I can get inspired by many things: It might be a scripture that has been read on Sunday, or nature, a song, or just a color scheme.
Can you share your favorite scrapbooking or design tip with our Faith Sisters?
Just get busy and preserve those photos on acid free papers and books. Don’t forget to journal so those important memories are not forgotten. Remember to scrapbook in your own style!
How do you find the time to do so many wonderful designs?
I am at the age where some curse the empty nest but for me it has opened the doors of time to design. I am only limited to how creative I am at the time. If I get stumped I will go take a walk where I can get inspired by God’s beautiful designs around me.
What is your favorite scripture verse?
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. I Corinthians 15:58
