"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." -Matthew 11:28-30
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death. -Psalm 68 19-20
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, -Philippians 3 12-13
Is there a song that reminds you to lay it down? Whatever it is that you are carrying its not to heavy, to big, for God. I hope you will join us this month in creating a layout inspired by your favorite songs. Below are a few songs I thought fit this topic, but feel free to share any song that you feel drawn too.
Give It All Away- Aaron Shust
Let Go- Grey Holiday
Let It Roll- Superchick
For my layout this month, I choose a song from one of my favorite bands, Need to Breathe, called Lay 'em Down. As I worked on my layout, something that struck me is that laying down our burdens is not a one time act. Though out life we pick up new burdens and sometimes we pick back up our old burdens. I'm very guilty of picking back up what I said I had laid down, but its something I'm working on.
Each month the designers are invited to create coordinated digital kits inspired by the topic to help you complete your layouts. This month we have lots of great kits to share with you. They are based on the swatch below. You do not have to use these kits to participate, but I challenge you to create your layouts using these colors. Paper scrappers are welcome to join us by using similar colored products.
