Providence 365, Week 15

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather in to barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you nor worth much more than they?

...Do not be anxious then, saying, "What shall we eat?" or What shall we drink?" or "With what shall we clothe ourselves?"...Your heavenly Father knows you need all these things."

Welcome back; this is Barbara with Week 15 of Providence 365.

My husband and I have a little saying, “We have everything we need and most of what we want.”  Really, we have an embarrassment of riches: each other and our family, a warm, dry, comfortable home, vehicles in good running order, a choice of shoes and clothes each day, a full freezer, fridge, and cupboards, enough money to pay our bills, and all the electronic gadgets our little hearts desire. 

And, yet, I catch myself saying, “I have nothing to wear!”  But, really, I can’t remember ever leaving the house unclothed. 

Or, “I’m starving!”  Really?  I actually could miss a few meals and it would probably do me good. 

"It's freezing in here!"   Um, 66 degrees is chilly, but freezing?

How about, “There’s nothing to do!”  (Actually, I don’t say that one, but I’ve heard it enough!)  We have shelves and shelves of books to read, craft supplies, and the great outdoors to explore.

We are abundantly blessed, and our Father has provided bountifully for our needs.  And, I suspect He has provided well for you, too.  If you're reading this, I'm pretty sure that you have had the benefit of an education and are literate, you have electricity, and access to a computer and the Internet.  Even if the computer and electricity aren't yours, you were able to go somewhere, either by foot or some sort of wheels, which means that you, too, aren't starving and are properly clothed.  And, if you are drawn to the Faith Sisters site and blog, you probably have all this and Jesus, too! 

God cares for His children, providentially, through the means of our paychecks, gifts, common graces such as sunshine and air to breathe, and our families.  He knows what we need, for He made us with those needs.  He knows what we need better than we!

So, my encouragement to you this week is to look for His hand of provision, even in the little things.  Especially in the little things, as they most often get overlooked, and therefor we often aren't thankful.  Pam and I would love to see your layouts in our gallery and to read your comments in our forum.  I promise that I'll remember to start the thread this week!
