"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
You might be asking, what does this have to do with Providence?I'm glad you asked!
When you "shine" before men by doing the good, gracious, and sacrificial works He has placed in your path, you give honor and glory to our Father. These are the same works that He placed there for you to do (not by accident) according to Ephesians 2:10:
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."
So, our ultimate purpose in these good deeds is to glorify God, through Christ Jesus. And, how does a light shine best? By blaring directly into someone's eyes? Obviously not.
A light is best used when it shines as a beacon, like a lighthouse, to direct the lost to safety. Or, as a guide, such as a flashlight on a dark path, to illuminate the way.
Our deeds are to be like that. Not glaring, causing people to flinch and turn away, but as a beacon and guide.
So, this week, be aware of how you are shining. Look for those times and places where light is a help and a comfort, knowing that God has placed you there for a purpose: to serve others and to glorify Him.
